Testimony from First Congregational Preschool Families

  • “After moving to St. Louis from Charlotte, finding a preschool was a top priority. My daughter and I toured a number of preschools in the area. Walking into First Congregational Preschool was like walking into a place you’ve been coming to for years. The Director and teachers are incredibly warm, nurturing and encourage children to explore, learn, and develop through play. From the moment we toured First Congregational Preschool to the day that my daughter graduated we have felt a wonderful connection with this school. We are forever grateful to the wonderful staff for our daughter’s experience, education and friendships that will last a lifetime. First Congregational Preschool is like no other and has been a formative, life enhancing experience for my child.”
  • “Ten years ago, I sent my oldest child to First Congregational Preschool. I quickly learned that FCP is not just an early childhood program, it is a community. Three of my children have graduated from FCP and my fourth child will be attending in this fall. The teachers and staff are warm, welcoming and encourage each child to develop at a rate and manner that is best for that child. Not only do the teachers understand child development, they understand MY child’s development. I love First Congregational Preschool’s emphasis on learning through play. The children learn important pre-academic skills, but they have also learn the value of being a good friend. They learn how to share, how to take turns, how to negotiate and how to communicate with their peers. I am happy to have found such a nurturing and wonderful community in FCP.”
  • “The “Health Snack Policy” at First Congregational Preschool was one of the main factors that contributed to my husband and I choosing FCP for our son. My son has Phenylketonuria (PKU,), which is a genetic condition that requires him to eat a strict low protein diet. If children with PKU do not adhere to this diet brain damage will occur. With FCP’s “Healthy Snack Policy,” my son could join in snack time with his friends and be like everybody else. The staff at FCP was terrific in checking with me if they were unsure if my son could eat a certain food. In addition to a low-protein diet, the food that my son has must be weighed and recorded. I provided the school with food scales and the teachers would weigh and record what food was eaten and exactly how much. The measurements were written on carbon paper and one copy was given to me at the end of the day, while the other copy was kept at the preschool as an additional precaution. The care and attention that the teachers and staff at First Congregational Preschool took for my son and his dietary needs was exceptional. I always knew he was being kept safe and healthy. I have no hesitation in recommending First Congregational Preschool as a safe, fun, & wonderful learning environment for your child.”
